Troubleshooting

The extension isn't working properly. What should I do?

If you are experiencing issues with the extension, please follow these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Refresh the Browser:

    • Try refreshing the Chrome browser by clicking the refresh button or pressing Ctrl + R (Windows/Linux) or Cmd + R (Mac).
  2. Check Internet Connection:

    • Ensure you have a stable internet connection, as some features may require internet access.
  3. Restart Chrome:

    • Close all Chrome windows and reopen the browser. This can help resolve temporary issues.
  4. Update the Extension:

    • Ensure you have the latest version of the extension. Go to the Chrome Web Store and check for updates. Alternatively, go to chrome://extensions/ and click "Update" at the top.
  5. Disable and Re-enable the Extension:

    • Go to chrome://extensions/, find the extension, and toggle it off and then on again.
  6. Clear Browser Cache:

    • Clear the cache by going to chrome://settings/clearBrowserData, selecting "Cached images and files," and clicking "Clear data."
  7. Check for Conflicting Extensions:

    • Disable other extensions one by one to see if there is a conflict. Go to chrome://extensions/ and toggle off other extensions.
  8. Reinstall the Extension:

    • Remove the extension by right-clicking the extension icon and selecting "Remove from Chrome," then reinstall it from the Chrome Web Store.
  9. Check for Chrome Updates:

    • Ensure you are using the latest version of Chrome. Go to chrome://settings/help to check for updates.
  10. Review Extension Permissions:

    • Make sure the extension has the necessary permissions. Go to chrome://extensions/, find the extension, and click "Details" to review and enable permissions.

How do I report a bug or issue?

If you encounter a bug or issue with the extension, please follow these steps to report it:

  1. Take a Screenshot:

    • Capture a screenshot of the issue. On Windows, you can use PrtScn or Snipping Tool. On Mac, you can use Shift + Command + 4.
  2. Gather Details:

    • Note down any specific actions that led to the issue, along with any error messages or unusual behavior observed.
  3. Send an Email:

    • Compose an email to our support team at support@verdinapps.com.
    • Include a clear description of the issue.
    • Attach the screenshot you took.
    • Provide any additional details that might help us understand and resolve the problem.

Why does YTNotes sometimes fail to generate notes for certain YouTube videos?

YTNotes relies on YouTube’s public data and third-party APIs to fetch video transcripts. While it works for most videos, some may not have transcripts available due to one or more of the following reasons:

  • Transcripts are disabled: The video creator may have turned off captions or restricted access.
  • Language limitations: Transcripts in certain languages may not be supported or may return error.
  • API limitations: Some videos may intermittently fail due to rate limits, high traffic, or temporary issues.
  • Copyright or private videos: Restricted or private videos usually don’t allow transcript access.

We’re continuously working to improve support and reliability, but please note that YTNotes may not work with all videos especially those without available transcripts.
